The closing date on the Manchester Writing Competition 2016 for submissions is September 23, 2016. So a little time still to roll off a short story and get it over to them. Well worth a shot as you will have a crack at a £10,000 prize which will go to the writer of the best short story.
There is an entry fee of £17.50 along with your submission and there is a cap of 2,500 words for the story. This is a major international writing competition (as they say on their website “these are the UK’s biggest literary awards for unpublished writing“) for anyone 16 or over. You can submit as many stories as you like, but you have to treat each one as a separate entry, meaning you have to pay for each.
Check out of the full details here and of course good luck if you are entering!
